Version 5.5.1
This release delivers a major platform modernization together with new management and diagnostic capabilities. The underlying Java runtime and web server have been upgraded to current long-term supported versions, laying a more secure and sustainable foundation for future development.
Out-of-Band Management
Advantech Edge BMC
Port 80h POST Code Capture
Added support for capturing Port 80h POST codes from the host. It snoops BIOS writes to I/O port 0x80 over LPC/eSPI and stores them, allowing users to view the latest POST code remotely via Web UI to help diagnose boot failures.
EC Firmware Update via Portal
Added the ability to update Embedded Controller (EC) firmware directly from the portal. Users can upload an EC firmware image and trigger the update without a separate flashing tool or physical access to the system.
Enhancements
Korean Language Support
Added Korean (한국어) to the list of supported UI languages. Users can select
한국어 from the Language dropdown menu.
System Diagnostic Tool Now Available on Ubuntu
The system diagnostic tool, previously available only on Windows, is now also provided for Ubuntu. Users running Ubuntu can collect system information and run diagnostics with the same functionality as on Windows.
MongoDB Capped Collection Enabled by Default
The MongoDB capped collection feature is now enabled by default, with a default size limit of 10 GB. This change addresses disk space exhaustion reported by customers in the field. Once the limit is reached, the oldest records are automatically overwritten by new ones, preventing unbounded database growth.
Third-Party Updates
- Grafana (v9.5.21)
- MongoDB (v7.0.39)
- OpenJRE, Eclipse Adoptium (v17.0.19+10)
- PostgreSQL (v15.18)
- RabbitMQ (v3.13.7) with Erlang (v26.2.5.21)
- Tomcat (v10.1.56)
Upgrade Version Path
Since MongoDB is the major database used by DeviceOn, we need to follow MongoDB's upgrade policy where users must successively upgrade between major releases. Since this version (v5.5.1) adopts MongoDB 7.0, if your current DeviceOn version is below 5.4.1, you need to first upgrade to version 5.4.1 which uses MongoDB 6.0 before upgrading to this version.
